Chicago Welcomes Galway

The Galway delegation's visit to Chicago got off to a wonderful start with a special Mayoral Reception at Ireland House, bringing together representatives from Galway and our hosts in Chicago.

As Galway's sister city, Chicago shares long-standing cultural, educational, and economic ties with the West of Ireland. The reception provided an excellent opportunity to celebrate these connections, strengthen existing relationships, and explore new avenues for future collaboration.

The evening highlighted the importance of international partnerships in supporting regional growth, innovation, and opportunity. Delegates from Galway's civic, academic, and business communities gathered with Chicago counterparts to exchange ideas and reinforce the strong bonds that have developed between the two cities over many years.

We were honoured to hear inspiring remarks from Mayor Ogbu, whose warm welcome reflected the spirit of cooperation and friendship that continues to define the Galway-Chicago relationship.

The event brought together representatives from Galway City Council, Galway County Council, Galway Chamber, University of Galway, Atlantic Technological University, Platform94, Gaillimh le Gaeilge, and Chicago Sister Cities International, showcasing the breadth and strength of the Galway delegation.

As the visit continues, Galway Convention Bureau looks forward to engaging with key stakeholders, building new connections, and highlighting Galway as a leading destination for business events, conferences, investment, and innovation.
